The 27th Arab-German Business Forum under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action is in full swing. Every year, the forum brings together industry leaders, experts, and decision-makers to strengthen German-Arab economic relations, promote dialogue, exchange experiences and form partnerships.

On the day before the Economic Forum, our Managing Director and Partner at AS+P, Joachim Schares, was re-elected to the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry e. V. Executive Committee for a three-year term and remains committed to promoting economic relations between the Arab countries and Germany - Congratulations!

As one of the panellists on the panel ‘Smart Cities: Pioneering Infrastructure for Tomorrow's Business Hubs’, Joachim Schares discussed the key aspects for greener and cleaner cities with Hakan Ozdemir (CEO of Siemens Smart Infrastructure in the Middle East, CEO of Siemens in Qatar), Yasser Nagi (Managing Director of Wilo Middle East), Ayman Haikal (CEO of Dorsch Global) and Ali Feraish Al-Salem (Head of Infrastructure Planning Section, Ministry of Municipality and Environment of Qatar).

Steadily increasing population growth, climate change, resource efficiency, and the demand for affordable housing put enormous pressure on cities today. The panel shared their insights how today’s cities can be reimagined to achieve the path to a better future.

For AS+P, the smartness of future cities begins with intelligent urban planning, using skilful digital methods and always putting people in the centre of all considerations. Schares also explained that a balanced distribution of land uses with a holistic mobility and infrastructure concept are integral components of AS+P’s integrative planning approach.
